NNUH Study – First in the UK

Two of our Clinical Associate Professors and their UK first Pharmacogenomics Study

Two of our own Clinical Associate Professors (CAPS), Dr Caroline Barry and Dr Martyn Patel, have been making strides in research by exploring the use of Pharmacogenomics in Palliative Care.

Through their work, they have discovered that the effectiveness of many medications, which are used for managing symptoms, can be impacted by their susceptibility to drug-gene interactions.

The importance of this work has been recognised by the NHS Pharmacogenomics Network of Excellent and further funding has been granted to continue the work.
