The Black Health and Research Conference is back for it’s second year. First hosted in 2024, this event was created to discuss the gap in black health concerns, to hear the experiences of colleagues from around the Norwich Research Park and to inspire future research and improvements in patient care. This event will take place in the Benjamin Gooch Lecture Theatre at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). This event is free and is open to all, public and staff.
The official theme for Black History Month UK 2026 is “Honouring Our Communities“. This theme shifts the focus from well-known historical figures to the everyday individuals. It aims to make visible the contributions of those who often work “quietly” within their communities, such as:
- Community Leaders: Volunteers and grassroots organisers who build support systems and foster belonging.
- Healthcare Workers: Nurses and carers providing compassion and dignity.
- Educators: Teachers who shape the futures of students beyond the classroom.

The day will also feature a presentation about the NIHR Bioresource and the work being done to support IBHO (Improving Black Health Outcomes).
