2024 Research Café success
On Tuesday, 29 October, the DCSS held its third annual Research Café.
The event was organised by Rebekah Girling, Imaging Research Lead and Divisional Research Lead for Clinical Support Services, and Victoria Underwood, Imaging Research Administrator. It featured guest speakers from various external organisations, including the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), James Paget Research, Clinical Academic Careers East of England, and Norfolk and Waveney ICB. The event was designed to showcase research training opportunities for staff to advance their research careers.
The event was a huge success, attracting attendees from across all allied health professions as well as nurses from the N&N. It also highlighted the work of Samantha Mizzi (Senior Maxillofacial Prosthetist), who independently creates and designs eye prostheses from start to finish. She has conducted research into her profession and the impact eye prosthetics have on her patients. Her work improves her patients’ mental and emotional health, giving them confidence. Find out more about Samantha’s work.
With research being a key component of the Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England, it is essential that we highlight research within the Trust and how staff can get involved.
Applications to cohort 4 of the NIHR internship close on the 8 November 2024.
The scheme lasts 12 weeks, with 1 day per week (0.2 WTE) assigned and funded for the research scholarship, including a rotation for participants to work with various research-active teams and R&D support departments at the NNUH, to gain insight into research and its processes.
Participants will complete a workbook with various mandatory and personal objectives, alongside an action plan to create a project aimed at increasing research capability and capacity in their area.
